Web Site Update May 4, 2009
The website of the CartoPhilatelic Society has been updated on May 4th, 2009.
The April 2009 issue of the NCP has been dispatched to members . Our 25th issue begins with a fascinating article by Society Member Volker Woesner examining the colonies and territories of Great Britain through stamps. Thomas Lera and Miklos Pinther provide some background information about the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum. An in-depth look at the map stamps of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands is presented by our Editor, Martin Oakes. Martin has also compiled some results to a survey about whether or not the Society's Maps on Stamps Checklist could be converted from its current form, to a database format. Feedback from the survey showed limited interest, so a database format will not be offered at this time.
If you were a member, but did not receive the January 2009 or April issues of the NCP, please check your membership. Members with unpaid dues did not receive either of these issues. Please consider to renew your dues and continue to be part of our Society. We thank our members for their support and value their input.
A new image pop-up window has been added on the web site to currently provide a way to look at some of the more important issues in a larger image. Currently the Darwin mini-sheet and Denmark Old Map set are using this image pop-up. Please let me know if there are any problems when accessing this script. It should be quite cross-browser compatible.
Both the mapsonstamps and cartophilately sites have been updated. Please feel free to use either site, the content is currently the same.
