Revision 5 of the Maps on Stamps Checklist has been released. See the news to the left of this box.
Revision 5 of the Maps on Stamps Checklist is nearing completion and will be issued on November 1, 2011.
This revision contains over 1100 new issues plus hundreds of corrections and additions of issues previously over-looked.
Members with current dues, who have previously purchased the electronic version of the Checklist can receive Revision 5 at no cost.
If you have made notes in the right hand columns of Checklist 4 you will want to transfer them to Revision 5. TNCP Editor Martin Oakes has been developing an Excel macro, and while not guaranteed, it should work well in most cases, and transfer all of the notes from the old Checklist file to the new one.
During the Richmond meeting Martin presented information about a new macro he has been working on to combine an old version of the checklist with user notes with a new version. It is expected that Revision 5 of the Checklist will be released with the macro, near the end of the year.
Revision 4 of the Maps on Stamps Checklist was issued February 1, 2008. David has reported that there are about 1000 new issues to add, plus corrections, and the addition of older issues previously not recognized. David hopes to have Revision 5 ready to go later this year.
David has reported that Revision 4 of the Maps on Stamps checklist is ready to go. Once again, Society members Ed Stresino and Mark Honig have made thousands of corrections and additions. Revision 4 contains over 35,000 entries and if printed over 785 single sided pages! Members who have previously purchased either an electronic or hard copy version of the Checklist can receive, on request, a copy of Revision 4 at no cost. As the size of the Checklist grows, several issues were raised, including how to integrate a new version with a previous version; inclusion of too many O grade stamps; making the spreadsheets of new issues available on the website; and listing each stamp in a set individually rather than on one line. These and other issues will be addressed in the coming months. A special section on the Society's new online member forum is open to discuss these issues in a community setting.
David would appreciate your comments about the Checklist, what you like about it, what problems you have using it, and improvements you would like to see.
Please communicate with David or use the member forum site.
David has reported that updates to the current version (Revision 3) of the checklist have been ongoing for the past 9 months or so. These updates come in the form of error corrections and new additions.
Members Ed Stresino, Mark Honig, and Stuart Hamilton, have provided more than several hundred changes!
Way to go Members!!
Our checklist is one of the cornerstones or our Society!
Thanks for all of the hard work!
